COMMON QUESTIONS
A fractional CTO provides senior technical leadership on a part-time basis. The work can include technical strategy, architecture, security, delivery oversight, engineering hiring, vendor decisions and translating the company roadmap into a realistic technology plan.
It is useful when technical decisions have become consequential but the company does not yet need or cannot support a full-time CTO. Common triggers include an unreliable MVP, a stalled roadmap, outsourced development, a first engineering hire or investor technical due diligence.
A fractional CTO is normally a paid, part-time executive engagement with defined leadership responsibilities. A technical cofounder makes a broader founding commitment, usually takes significant long-term risk and equity, and shares responsibility for building the company.
Yes. We can define technical standards, review architecture and delivery, make risk visible and ensure external developers are building toward company goals rather than only completing tickets.
Both models are possible. We can lead an existing engineering team or combine fractional CTO leadership with Plumios product design and engineering. The engagement should match the gap, not force the company to coordinate another supplier.
